THE USA AND INDIA SIGNED MILITARY LOGISTIC AGREEMENT.

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA [USA] AND INDIA SIGNED A BILATERAL AGREEMENT NAME LOGISTIC EXCHANGE MEMORENDAM OF AGREEMENT [LEMOA] ON AUGUST 29, 2016. WITH THIS AGREEMENT,  BOTH THE COUNTRIES ABLE TO USE EACH OTHER`S LAND, AIR AND NAVAL BASES FOR REPAIR AND RESUPPLY. THIS IS A STEP TOWARDS BUILDING DEFENCE TIES AS THEY SEEK TO COUNTER THE GROWING MARITIME ASSERTIVENESS OF CHINA. LEMOA FACILITATES THE PROVISION OF LOGISTICAL SUPPORT, SUPPLIES AND SERVICES BETWEEN THE US AND INDIAN MILITARIES ON A REIMBURSABLE BASIS, AND PROVIDES A FRAMEWORK TO GOVERN THEM. THE PACT WILL ALSO FACILITIES OPPORTUNITIES FOR `PRACTICAL ENGAGEMENT AND EXCHANGE`. THIS FRAMEWORK WILL PROVIDE TO FACILITATE INNOVATIVE AND ADVANCED OPPORTUNITIES IN DEFENCE TECHNOLOGY AND TRADE COOPERATION. THE SIGNING OF THE AGREEMENT WILL MAKE THE LOGISTIC OF JOINT OPERATIONS MUCH EASIER AND MUCH MORE EFFICENT. THE AGREEMENT WILL ALLOW THE INDIAN AND US NAVIES TO HAVE AN EASIER TIME SUPPORTING EACH OTHER IN JOINT OPERATIONS AND EXERCISES AND WHEN PROVIDING HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE.
